2018 Kia Sorento Trims (L, LX, LX V6)

Not only is the Kia Sorento ranked as the best midsize SUV by U.S. News and World Report, it’s also named the best 3-row SUV for the money. If you’re set on a Sorento but need help choosing between the five trims offered, here’s what you need to know about the L, which is the entry-level Sorento, and the LX, which is one step up and also available as the LX V6.

The Sorento L is available with only one powertrain: a 185-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The Sorento LX shares the same base engine but offers the option of upgrading to all-wheel drive. You can also opt for the LX V6, powered by a 290-hp engine that increases the vehicle’s towing capacity from 2,000 to 5,000 pounds.

The L, LX, and LX V6 models of the 2018 Sorento are virtually identical. All three come with cloth upholstery and can increase passenger capacity from five to seven with an optional third row.

The 2018 Sorento L comes standard with folding second-row seats, a six-speaker stereo system, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, and satellite radio. The LX adds two rapid charging USB ports, while the LX V6 also includes an automatic folding second row and a folding third row to maximize cargo capacity. Drivers who choose the LX or the LX V6 can add the Kia Convenience Package, which includes upgraded front seats, smartphone integration, and rear parking sensors. If you opt for both the Convenience Package and the third row, you can also get the Advanced Technology Package to enjoy the peace of mind of autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and forward collision warning.
