The automotive media have lauded the 2025 Kia EV6 since it was launched, and rightly so. The Kia EV6 is a fully electric compact SUV that would have been a success regardless of its powertrain. Its stunningly attractive design becomes even more desirable as you learn about it, and the zero-emissions powertrain is the icing on the cake. For the 2025 model year, the Kia EV6 gets a modest makeover that includes updates to the styling, the onboard tech, and the battery.
One of the first changes you might notice with the 2025 Kia EV6 is slightly simplifying the trim levels. The previous eight, with their lengthy but superbly descriptive names, have been reduced to five. The lineup starts with the Light, but the rest of the lineup is in ascending order: the Light Long Range, Wind, GT-Line, and top-of-the-line GT. The exterior styling also gets a few modest tweaks to the full-width taillight, the headlamps, the front bumper, and updated wheel designs. The Kia EV6 was already a sensational-looking vehicle, and the updates have made it even more attractive and contemporary.
The 2025 Kia EV6 has electric powertrains that are worth getting excited about. Even the most affordable version found in the entry-level Light trim has a 63-kWh battery and AC Synchronous Permanent Magnet Motor that provide the rear-drive Kia EV6 with 167 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque and a driving range on a full charge of 240 miles. It gets the Kia EV6 from 0 to 60 mph in 8.3 seconds, but being electric, it feels faster. The Light Long Range, Wind, and GT-Line models see the battery size increase to a new 84-kWh unit, and they’re available in RWD and AWD versions. The RWD models boast 225 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, but the AWD versions offer an impressive 320 horsepower and 446 lb.-ft. of torque. The ranges are 319 miles (RWD) and 295 miles (AWD), and the respective 0 to 60mph times are 7.3 and 5.0 seconds. However, the performance goes to an entirely different level with the range-topping GT trim. The battery is the same 84-kWh unit, but this exclusively AWD model has 601 horsepower and 4668 lb.-ft. of torque to play with. That equates to a maximum speed of 161 mph and a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.4 seconds with Launch Mode. Understandably, that sensational performance affects the range, but it’s still a convenient 231 miles on a full charge.
You know the 2025 Kia EV6 is going to have impressive standard specifications across all trims when you learn the base Light Short Range model comes with 19.0-inch alloy wheels, LED lights, combination recycled fabric / vegan leather seats, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, and a 12.3-inch Color TFT LCD panoramic curved display cluster. The GT-Line and GT have superb standard features that now include a head-up display, a Meridian premium audio system, a smart power liftgate, a power sunroof, Integrated Memory Seat (IMS), heated rear seats (optional for GT-Line), and a D-cut steering wheel. The GT-Line and GT models also have several unique styling cues, and the GT gets a standard heated steering wheel, front bucket seats, 21-inch alloy wheels, Front Electronically-controlled suspension (ECS), McPherson Strut Multi (Dual) Lower Arm type front suspension, and a neon GT button for GT mode on the steering wheel.
