The 2025 Kia Sportage lineup offers seven trim levels, and that’s without considering the electrified models available. The range begins with the Kia Sportage LX, which boasts a list of standard features that make it appear anything but entry-level. From there, things get better and better until you arrive at the sensational X-Pro Prestige range-topper. In between them are five models designed to suit a variety of drivers and applications. They are the EX, X-Line AWD, SX, SX Prestige, and X-Pro.
As the 2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid is a sub-set of the Sportage nameplate, all three trim levels feature the same powertrain. However, When the powertrain is as good as this, that’s a seriously good thing. The unit is question is based around a 1.6-liter turbo four coupled with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. The gasoline engine produces 177 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque, featuring direct injection and paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 59-horsepower electric motor is seamlessly integrated with the transmission for enhanced efficiency and performance. The hybrid system draws power from a 1.49 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery positioned under the rear seats to optimize both weight distribution and cabin space. The combined output of the powertrain is 227 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, offering decent acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 7.5 seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to around 120 mph. The front-drive Sportage Hybrid is rated at an impressive 42 mpg in the city, 44 mpg on the highway, and 43 mpg combined. AWD models get 38 mpg across the board.
It’s probably not fair to consider the 2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid LX as a base model, even though it is the most affordable of the hybrid versions of the compact Kia SUV. The interior is as spacious and comfortable as we’ve come to expect from the Kia Sportage. However, the Sportage Hybrid has an optional two-tone color scheme that sets it apart from more mundane rivals. There’s even a generous 40 cubic feet of cargo capacity in the rear, with a dual-level trunk floor for extra flexibility. Standard features include dual-zone auto climate control, a 12.2-inch instrument display, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Step up to the EX, and you then get a standard 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, navigation, SiriusXM, wireless phone charging, SynTex upholstery, heated front seats, and a 10-way power driver’s seat. The SX Prestige adds an 8-way power passenger seat, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof with a power sunshade, and plenty more.
