Performance

That oversight is now corrected with a choice of gas-only and hybrid powertrains. The standard engine is a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 274 horsepower and 311 lb.-ft. of torque. That’s a 49-horsepower increase over the previous engine, and the power goes to the front or all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The new alternative is a hybrid powertrain comprising a 2.5-liter turbo-four engine, electric motors, and a 1.65-kWh battery. This unit offers 329 horsepower and 339 lb.-ft. of torque, and an estimated combined fuel economy rating of 35 mpg. Both powertrains replace the column-mounted steering system with Rack-Mounted Motor-Driven Power Steering (R-MDPS). This offers improved feedback and responds more quickly to driver inputs. It also delivers enhanced precision for improved handling through corners and better high-speed stability.
Features and Technology
A big focus of the new Kia Telluride is its enhanced off-road capability, courtesy of the new range-topping X-Pro variant. It boasts an exclusive suspension setup with additional stroke, an electronic limited-slip differential (e-LSD), and an impressive 9.1 inches of ground clearance. Multiple Drive Modes are available, including the pretty self-explanatory Terrain Mode. Of course, the whole Kia Telluride family is packed with features, from quality climate control and sound systems to top-flight infotainment with large touchscreens and digital gauge clusters.
